PLANTWORX 2025

Where Innovation Meets Opportunity

PLANTWORX is the UK’s largest working construction equipment exhibition, taking place from 23rd to 25th September 2025 at the Newark Showground. This biennial event is a must-attend, showcasing emerging and disruptive technologies, global construction equipment, innovative products, and cutting-edge services.

About the event

At PLANTWORX, construction professionals and key decision-makers come together to explore the latest advancements in plant and equipment. Visitors can expect live machine demonstrations and exciting features like the ‘Operators Challenge’ and the interactive ‘Dig Zone.’ More than just a trade show, PLANTWORX celebrates industry achievements while educating, entertaining, and inspiring the next generation of professionals.

PLANTWORX 2025 aims to inspire the next generation of owners, operators, designers, and engineers. Mark your calendars and be part of this transformative experience.

Project Objective

Our commitment to engaging young minds is at the heart of the Rethinking Futures® initiative. The objectives of our project are:

  • Attract over 200 students aged 12 to 18 to attend PLANTWORX.
  • Capture the interest of a generation at an impressionable age.
  • Provide opportunities for school enrichment through term-time events.
  • Showcase student achievements in front of potential employers and educational institutions.
  • Facilitate unique networking opportunities to discuss apprenticeships and careers directly with industry professionals.
  • Welcome up to 25 local and national colleges, universities, and training organisations.
  • Promote your company's policies on apprenticeships, training, and career options.
  • Bridge the gap between the construction world and educational establishments, ensuring a well-trained and robust future workforce.
  • Enhance local, regional, and national interest in the project, in collaboration with industry and government bodies.
  • Inspire young people and industry companies to address the skills gap in the construction and engineering sectors.

Project Scope

Our schools’ project revolves around materials handling, drawing inspiration from industry machinery such as grab lorries, HIABs, excavators, cranes, and telehandlers. Here's what students can expect:

  • Design and Build: Students will create a machine capable of lifting and moving various objects, showcasing their ingenuity and problem-solving skills.
  • Creative Freedom: While Rethinking Futures® will support each school throughout the process, students will have the freedom to make decisions and express creativity in their designs.
  • Hands-On Learning: All teams will receive the necessary tools and materials, including timber, nuts, bolts, and other components to bring their designs to life.
  • Engaging Documentation: We encourage each school’s media department to capture the process, creating a ‘Bloopers’ video that highlights the journey from concept to operation. This will form part of a visual display during the live event.
  • Real-World Application: The competition will mimic the machines showcased at PLANTWORX, visible in the ‘Operators Challenge’ and the ‘Dig Zone’, enhancing the students’ learning experience.
